How do I get to Gibraltar?

From U.K.:
Easyjet also fly from Gatwick, Manchester and Bristol.

Gibraltar airport is a 10 min walk to your yacht.

From outside U.K. you may prefer to fly to Malaga in Spain which is 1 hour 30 min drive to Gibraltar. We can arrange a private driver to pick you up, or there is the bus.

What if my flight times/dates do not fit exactly with the course times?

We have a left luggage service near the yacht and if you want to stay any extra days in Gibraltar we can arrange B&B in the marina and send details of activities in the area including Gibraltar Rock tours and diving.

What do I need to bring?

You can pack light, hand luggage is fine:

  • Passport (European ID cards are not valid for sailing).
  • Euros for drinks ashore in Spain.

  • Good quality warm fleece. Comfortable clothes, T shirts etc
  • Towel and wash bag for visits to shower rooms

We provide all your safety equipment (life jacket and harness) and waterproofs if you need them.

What is the weather like?

We have on average 310 days of sunshine a year.

The sailing conditions in Gibraltar are better than the rest of the Mediterranean as there is good wind in the straits of Gibraltar. Competent crew can also enjoy sailing in Gibraltar bay which is sheltered by the Rock.

Why Trafalgar Sailing?

Trafalgar Sailing has been running for 22 years and we have been sailing this area for 32 years. We are the oldest and most experienced RYA school in Gibraltar. We have never had to cancel an RYA sailing course.

Unlike some schools, we will not put you on a yacht with RYA fast track Yachtmaster students, so you will gain more from your course with students of a similar standard.

We are a small family run business so can provide a more personal service that larger schools cannot.

Our RYA Sailing Instructors are not only experts in sailing and teaching RYA courses, they are also gentlemen, have a sense of humour and are a pleasure to sail with.
