RYA Charters are child friendly – Children from 12 years can do the RYA Competent Crew sailing course and the younger ones receive a “Trafalgar Sailing Pirate Certificate” which is a bit of fun that gets the kids involved in the everyday running of the yacht. The little ones get a toy Trafalgar Sailing monkey to play with. We always see dolphins and other exciting marine life in the Gibraltar Bay and Straits, which the kids love.
Parents and friends can do an RYA course during the charter as your Skipper is an R.Y.A. Yachtmaster Instructor. Special care is taken to ensure everyone’s safety at all times. We have life jackets for the children.
Onshore activities in Gibraltar could be a Gibraltar Rock tour and visit to the Gibraltar monkeys den and Moorish castle to look for pirates. There are lots of super beaches too. Restaurants in Spain and Gibraltar welcome children, but if you want a night out on your own we can arrange a babysitter. If your kids want to bring a friend on holiday that is fine too.
For families planning to liveaboard a yacht and go cruising, we offer the Family Fast track programme, which is 4-8 weeks sailing and living onboard the yacht, sailing Monday to Friday and rest or exploring ashore at the weekends. This is the perfect introduction to a life at sea.
