Catamarans have become extremely popular over the last few years so have RYA Instructors especially for teaching people to sail their own. Your RYA instructor can fly to wherever you are and teach you how to enjoy your Catamaran and be safe at sea. We also offer a delivery service, so can sail your yacht to wherever you would like her.
There can be up to 5 people doing RYA training on the Catamaran with your instructor living
onboard. We can also provide crew. This is necessary if you would like to do a longer passage. We
will help guide you till you are ready to set sail on your own. If you are new to sailing and would like
some advice while cruising from an experienced sailor we can offer a “support chat” on whatsapp.
So, while sailing independently you can get guidance on weather forecasts, passage planning, where
to anchor, where not to anchor etc.

Cathy, Thank you for your patience, and your understanding of my needs and Thank you for sending such a great team of guys to train and a stubborn American, I truly had one of the best experiences of my life. I wouldn’t choose anyone else if I were you!!
5 stars are not enough for this company!!
We hired Jim as a captain to be with us through the Gibraltar strait. He was amazing! As an example of how amazing he was not only did he teach us many tips and tricks along the way he also was able to fix a bilge pump problem we had by disassembling the pump on the fly figuring out that the joker valve was in backwards putting it back in the right way making the bilge pump work! In addition our chartplotter went out and he helped reconnect some of the cables. Suffice it to say that both Jim and Cathy are amazing and we highly recommend them to anyone needing any type of assistance for instruction or a captain or delivery captain!
I’m from Pensacola, Florida and I recently purchased a Lagoon 40 in Almerimar, Spain. I had very little experience sailing, a neighbour introduced me to it, I fell for it and wanted to learn more. I researched and spoke to a few companies in the Gibraltar area. After speaking with Cathy, I immediately felt comfortable with her and decided her company was the one that could help me with my journey on this new adventure. After arriving in Spain, it took a few weeks for Cathy to find me the instructor and crew to train me on my Lagoon 40. I had little to no experience sail on a monohull and no experience on a catamaran. I booked her team for a 10 day crash course to train me and help me with the Day Skipper course.
When Simon and Martin showed up, they could not have been more helpful with explaining how to maintain my boat for the first day. They also realized, that I was sick and tired on sitting in the marina and ready to get on the water. The next day they did exactly that, I was grateful for the first sail and was extremely excited about the next 8 day and everything I was about to learn. Simon was patience, understanding and very knowledgeable, his people are skills are amazing, his training methods are incredible, going over every detail that I would need to be a successful boat owner. If you’re considering learning to sail on a monohull or catamaran you could not find a better person to train you! I feel like I’ve made a life long friend and will not hesitate to reach out to him if I have any questions about sailing or maintaining by boat. He is truly an amazing instructor and also a exceptional human being, you can not go wrong with him.
Thank you Simon.
Simon is a very patient trainer that can easily relate to people with less experience. His enthusiasm for sailing really shows when he goes deep into explaining each important item that a person must learn. He tailors a conversation so people understand and then reiterates along the way. Lots of examples from his experience are included that help you understand and then put into practice. Especially for us with our new boat. He became part of our journey for a few days. I will totally recommend him and Trafalgar to others. Ohh… the other thing about Simon is that when the pressure is on he is calm and creates an environment in the situation that removes the stress.
Martin was the deckhand that came with Simon, he was equally as knowledgeable, understanding and so helpful when I didn’t understand some of the task Simon was teaching me. Not only did he give his knowledge about sail, he continually clean my boat when Simon was helping me doing the classroom work. Then, when it was time to eat, he cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner, he prepared some of the most amazing dishes that I have ever experienced and he did the dishes. Again, I have made another life long friend and I will contact him as well.
Thank you Martin.
If you desire to learn sailing, contact Cathy, tell her you want Simon to be your instructor, if you require a deckhand don’t accept anyone except Martin! They are truly great people and will give their knowledge with hesitation.
Thank you!
